How we can support your difficulties

We can provide support for a variety of difficulties such as anxiety / social anxiety, depression, low self-esteem / self-worth, bereavement / grief, trauma.

I am a qualified psychologist and counsellor having studied in Swansea University for over five years. As a practising therapist my aim is to (understand the impact that mental health has upon my client). To what extent are emotions and a person’s psychological and social well-being being affected. I tend to integrate the psychology in with a counselling session, on the principal of an interpretive phonological analysis – this being a full body approach of the physical function, lifestyle and nutrition of my client.

(I use different theory modalities during the collaboration between therapist and client) such as acceptance and commitment therapy, this encourages an individual to overcome negative attitudes thoughts and feelings, as well as excepting rejections- being able to stay present and act.

I will use (CBT) as an intervention taking your feelings into consideration, thoughts and experiences that are having an impact on behaviour and help you over come your worries and stresses by giving you weekly task and coping mechanisms to over come them. Depth therapy will also be used as well as a mindfulness approach which will go beyond the understanding of mental health to motivate you on your path to recovery.

What happens during a Counselling session?

A consultation will be carried out to assess risk as well as to monitor case history and to understand what you want to treat, (GP referral may be required).

During the session the therapist would like to target the main area concerned that the client is feeling on the day. Once the session begins the client will speak about how they feel and how they are coping, maybe what triggers are arising. I will be able to determine a treatment plan that is tailored to the individual.

After the session has come to an end, I will highlight areas to work on as well as give coping strategies and interventions as well as take home tasks for you to work on until your next appointment. A session will last 1 hour, I’m available in person, via zoom, or by telephone.

To book an appointment in person please see the list of clinic locations available below.
